Greg McElroy believes Texas A&M could surprise some people in 2025. He took an in-depth look at the Aggies on the latest episode of his Always College Football with Greg McElroy show.
After an eight-win season in 2024, Las Vegas oddsmakers have set Texas A&M’s over-under win total at 8.5. Can it reach the over and deliver fans a special season in 2025? McElroy took it game by game in his evaluation, believing there’s reason for optimism.
“We’ll go next to Texas A&M and head coach Mike Elko. Their over-under win total is at 8.5. They had eight wins last year,” McElroy prefaced. “If you look at their schedule, there’s a lot of things to like. There’s four games you would think are winnable immediately. Before we even get started, I would expect A&M to win at home against UTSA, Utah State, Samford and Mississippi State. With all due respect to Mississippi State, I don’t know if the progress will be enough at this point to go on the road and win a game in the SEC.

“Look at the other games that they have on their schedule. At Notre Dame, incredibly difficult game on Sept. 13. Auburn at home, Florida at home. Two games that I think you’ve gotta win. You’ve got to hold serve at home before you go to Arkansas, LSU and Missouri. Those three games are between Oct. 18 and Nov. 8. Three difficult road trips in a four-week span will be challenging for the Texas A&M Aggies.
“They’ll have South Carolina at home. I would imagine they’ll have that one circled after the disappointment in Columbia last year, before finishing up the regular season by traveling to Texas in what should be a great rivalry game.
