Post spring portal football roster predictions for the Florida Gators

Spring camp and the subsequent spring transfer portal have come and gone for the Florida Gators. While there are a couple of loose ends in the portal to tie up, the roster for the Gators is essentially set heading into summer.

With that in mind, here are the two-deep roster projections for the Gators once the season opens in August.

DJ Lagway leads the way for the Florida Gators in 2025
Starter

DJ Lagway
Backups

Harrison Bailey
Aidan Warner
It’s no shocker here that if Lagway is healthy, he will be the starter for the Gators in 2025. The real question mark will be who is his backup once the season begins?

Based on what we saw at the spring game, Bailey has to get the nod over Warner. But Napier has a weird way of staying loyal to guys, so this may not be automatic.

Runningbacks
Starters

Jadan Baugh
Ja’Kobi Jackson
Treyaun Webb
Backups

KD Daniels
Duke Clark
It feels like Napier will use a three-headed monster to at least start 2025. The real question mark is whether KD Daniels or Duke Clark are going to crack the rotation for any meaningful carries.

Wide Receivers
Starters

Tre Wilson
J. Michael Sturdivant
Dallas Wilson
Backups

Aidan Mizell
Vernell Brown
Tank Hawkins
We have already covered on this site the large variance the wide receiver room has heading into 2025, so there is no need to rehash that right now. What we could see happening, though, is Dallas Wilson bulldozing his way into the primary rotation.

The caveat would be whether or not Napier stays loyal to Mizell to start the season and keeps him in as a starter.

Tight Ends
Starters

Hayden Hanson
Tony Livingston
Backups

Amir Jackson
Micah Jones
There is hope that Jackson can emerge and be an actual pass-catching threat, but for now, we are going to predict Florida stays with the status quo.

Offensive Line
Starters

Austin Barber
Knijeah Harris
Jake Slaughter
Damieon George Jr.
Bryce Lovett
Backups

Caden Jones
Devon Manuel
Fletcher Westphal
Kamryn Waites
Roderick Kearney
Last year, the Gators were still shuffling around their offensive line in the week leading up to their opener against Miami, and it was a disaster. On paper, Florida returns four of their five starters that closed out 2024 and seem to be set on having Bryce Lovett slot in at right tackle in 2025.

EDGE/JACK
Starters

Tyreak Sapp
George Gumbs
Backups

LJ McCray
Kamran James
Depth will be tested with Florida’s edge rushers and the big hope for this unit is that former five-star prospect LJ McCray takes a step forward in 2025

Defensive Tackle
Starters

Jamari Lyons
Caleb Banks
Backups

Brien Taylor
Brendan Bett
Ton of question marks with this group, but Florida did move quickly to replace D’Antre Robinson leaving in the portal by grabbing Brendan Bett from Baylor

Linebackers
Starters

Myles Graham
Pup Howard
Backups

Aaron Chiles
Jaden Robinson
Ty Jackson
One of the more loaded groups for the Gators, Graham and Howard should be solid bets to start the season. Behind them should be a battle and don’t be shocked if freshman Ty Jackson works his way into the rotation.

Cornerbacks
Starters

Dijon Johnson
Sharif Denson
Devin Moore
Backups

Cormani McClain
Ben Hanks
Aaron Gates
It’s a tough group to get a read on because of how many injuries they had during the spring. Combined with some notable names waiting in the wings, this is a group that could easily shift around.

Safeties
Starters

Jordan Castell
Bryce Thornton
Backups

Drake Stubbs
Lagonza Hayward
Castell and Thornton are the entrenched guys, and given that Stubbs and Hawyard are both freshmen, it’s likely they start as backups. But don’t be shocked if this room flips by the end of the season.
