PITTSBURGH STEELERS HEAD COACH MIKE TOMLIN SELECTS 5 OUT OF THE CHILDREN HOSTED BY GEORGE PICKENS TO JOIN.. READ MORE

Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin made a surprising announcement today, revealing that he has handpicked five young talents from a group of children hosted by football star George Pickens.

The event, which saw kids aged eight to fifteen engaging in football drills and games, took on added significance as Pickens, a former five-star recruit hailing from Hoover, Alabama, returned to his roots to inspire the next generation.

Pickens, whose journey from Hoover to the NFL has been nothing short of inspirational, emphasized the importance of giving back to his community. “That means a lot to me because like you said, they look like me, they’re from where I’m from.

So it’s kind of like I’m talking to myself. You see what I mean, that means a lot to me just to make kids’ dreams and, you know, give them a lane to where they could do anything. You see what I mean. So that’s kind of what the foundation is about, just for kids, you know, to find a way in life,” Pickens shared.

The selection of these five young athletes by Coach Tomlin underscores the Steelers’ commitment not only to nurturing talent on the field but also to fostering a sense of community and empowerment among youth.

These lucky youngsters will now have the opportunity to participate in the Steelers Youth Football Program, where they will receive top-notch coaching and support as they pursue their football dreams.

Coach Tomlin expressed his excitement about the new additions to the Steelers family, stating, “These kids have shown incredible potential and dedication, and I believe they have what it takes to excel both on and off the field. We’re thrilled to welcome them into our youth program and look forward to watching them grow and succeed.”

As the Steelers continue to invest in the future of football, initiatives like these serve as a reminder that the sport is not just about winning games but also about building character and creating opportunities for the next generation.
