The Ottawa Senators are facing mounting pressure as they continue to fight for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. After missing the postseason for seven consecutive years, the team is desperate to break that streak, but a frustrating start to the 2024-25 season has left fans and players alike frustrated. Amid this turmoil, team captain Brady Tkachuk voiced his frustration and determination, offering a candid admission about the team’s struggles.
The Senators, currently sitting near the bottom of the NHL standings, had high hopes heading into this season. With new head coach Travis Green at the helm, there was a renewed sense of optimism that Ottawa could push for a playoff berth. Unfortunately, the team has failed to live up to expectations so far, with back-to-back losses to the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks adding to their woes.
Following these setbacks, Tkachuk made it clear that the team’s focus is squarely on finding a way to win, no matter the cost. “At this point, all we care about is winning and whatever it takes to win,” he said. “We have full belief in this group that things are going to turn for us, and it’s just time to dig in and dig deep. The answer’s in that room and we’re going to find it and be the best versions of ourselves when we do.”

Despite his strong efforts, Tkachuk has yet to see the results he hopes for. He plays a complete game each night, but even his impressive individual performances, like scoring two goals in a 4-3 loss to Anaheim, haven’t been enough to turn the team’s fortunes around. With 13 goals and 15 assists through the first 24 games of the season, Tkachuk has been one of the few bright spots for the Senators, yet the team remains stuck in the standings.
For Tkachuk and the Senators, it’s clear that a change is needed if they are to have any hope of ending their playoff drought. With just under three-quarters of the season left, Ottawa is running out of time to turn things around. However, the captain’s message remains clear: the belief in the team is still strong, and the players are determined to fight for a spot in the postseason, no matter how tough the road may be.
