EUGENE, Ore. – The Toledo baseball team dropped a 9-2 decision to Oregon, with the Ducks pulling away in the late innings to claim the 2025 season opener at PK Park on Friday.
The Rockets (0-1) got an early strike with a Tre Mariano home run in the top of the second inning to tie the game at 1-1. However, the Ducks (1-0) took the lead in the sixth on a home run and scored twice in the seventh and four more times in the eighth to pull away with the victory.
Quoting Head Coach Rob Reinstetle:
“For about seven innings, we played a great game versus a really good opponent. We showed we can play with anyone when we play our brand of baseball. Their starter was very good, but we kept them in a tied game when he came out. Our defense was most disappointing today as we made some errors which are not indicative of who we are. There’s a lot to learn from this game, and if we do learn from that, we’ll be just fine.”
