In Round 5, the Hawks lost to the Swans by a score of 63 points, failing to fly to victory. For Box Hill, it is the first loss of the year.

Sydney had a strong start, making it difficult for the Hawks to get the ball into their attacking half. The Swans consistently had 50 forward entries go their way, which put tremendous pressure on Box Hill’s defense.

Although Box Hill put out a lot of effort, the Hawks failed to score in their opening quarter of the season and went down by 27 points as a result of their inability to capitalize on forward 50 entries.

In the second term, Sydney was able to exert more pressure on the Hawks defense and dominate the ground.

Box Hill managed to stay competitive against a dominant Swans team because to Paula Pavic’s goal-saving performance in the goal square.

Midway through the second, Sophie Locke managed to score the first goal for the Hawks, who trailed by 37 points going into the major break.

In the third, the Swans maintained their momentum and once again put pressure on Box Hill. But after the break, the Hawks’ tempo and intensity had clearly changed, igniting a spark among the players.

Mikayla Williamson demonstrated her athleticism and defensive prowess in the third by producing a goal-saving smother.

AFLW player Bridie Hipwell scored Box Hill’s second goal of the day after kicking the ball from 35 meters out.

Especially, AFLW midfielder Charlotte Baskaran’s initiatives helped the Hawks maintain a high level of effort in the third. Clean disposals and clearance work by Baskaran were clearly visible.

With a deft shot early in the fourth quarter, Pavic scored her maiden goal in the VFLW.

But Sydney maintained their lead for the rest of the fourth and won the match against Box Hill that day.
