Texas A&M’s (30-26, 12-20 SEC) 2025 season is likely over after losing 4-3 to the LSU Tigers in the Quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament on Friday night, as the Aggies are on the outside looking in regarding the NCAA Tournament, which is now a pipe dream given how the program performed over the past three weeks.
What’s even crazier is that if the Aggies had defeated Missouri instead of getting swept at home two weeks ago, Texas A&M would have been guaranteed a spot in the tournament as a 3-seed in the Regional Round, instead of sweating it out heading into Monday’s Selection Show. Still, the media has been wrong regarding which teams sneak into the bracket, so there’s still a very slim chance the Aggies get in.

On Saturday, D1Baseball released its latest NCAA Tournament Regional Round predictions, and after falling to the Tigers, Texas A&M is now in the “Four To Watch,” which is two sections out of the “Last Four In” and “Last Four Out”. This means that several teams in front of the Aggies will need to slip up late, and sitting at 50th in the RPI rankings, it’s fair to point out that no team with such a ranking has made the postseason.
If this is the end of the line for the Maroon & White in 2025, junior outfielder Jace LaViolette’s heroic performance amid his broken left hand, driving in two of Texas A&M’s three runs against LSU, provided a positive spin to an otherwise disappointing campaign.
First-year head coach Michael Earley’s future with the program is not set in stone. News regarding his return or potential dismissal will likely be revealed sometime next week, barring the Aggies’ miraculously making the NCAA Tournament.
