Crimson Legends Announce Return Date “For the Love of the Game and the Pillars that Built It”
Alabama Greats to Face Off in Historic Homecoming Game Honoring Iconic Coaches Nick Saban and Paul “Bear” Bryant – August 15, 2025
Tuscaloosa, AL — In what promises to be one of the most emotional nights in college football history, a constellation of Alabama football legends will reunite on August 15, 2025, to celebrate the legacy of two towering figures in the program’s history — Nick Saban and Paul “Bear” Bryant.

Titled “For the Love of the Game and the Pillars that Built It,” the event will feature a charity exhibition match at Bryant-Denny Stadium during Alabama’s homecoming week. The match brings together generations of Crimson Tide greats for an unforgettable night of football, reflection, and reverence.

A Celebration of Legacy
From the houndstooth hat to the championship rings, few college football programs are as steeped in legend as Alabama. This one-of-a-kind event honors the legacies of Coach Bear Bryant, who led Alabama to six national championships and became a cultural icon, and Coach Nick Saban, the modern mastermind who redefined college dominance with seven national titles — six of them in Tuscaloosa.

“These two coaches didn’t just build a program — they built a brotherhood,” said former Alabama running back and Heisman winner Mark Ingram. “Coming back to honor them, to walk into that stadium again with my brothers, it’s bigger than football. It’s about family.”

Legends on the Field, Legends Remembered
The game will include a roster of celebrated Alabama alumni, including:

Derrick Henry

Julio Jones

Dont’a Hightower

Amari Cooper

Tua Tagovailoa (pending NFL schedule)

Jalen Hurts (tentative appearance)

These players — and dozens more — will don the crimson and white once again in a spirited but respectful flag football-style contest. The game will be preceded by a pre-game tribute ceremony, featuring speeches from former players, coaches, and the Saban and Bryant families.

More Than a Game
Organizers have confirmed that the event will also serve as a fundraiser for multiple causes close to the Alabama football community, including:

Scholarships for underprivileged students

Mental health programs for former athletes

Local youth football development in Alabama

“Coach Saban always said ‘we’re not just building players, we’re building men.’ This game is about continuing that mission,” said former linebacker C.J. Mosley.

How to Be a Part of History
Tickets go on sale starting August 1st at RollTide.com and are expected to sell out quickly. The event will also be broadcast live on the SEC Network, with a 7:00 PM kickoff scheduled.

Fans are encouraged to wear classic-era Alabama gear in honor of the coaches — houndstooth patterns, crimson jerseys, and white hats — as part of what’s being called a “Legacy White-Out.”

A Night to Remember
As the lights shine down on Bryant-Denny Stadium this August, it won’t just be a game — it will be a reunion of hearts, a celebration of enduring excellence, and a tribute to the men who made Alabama Football what it is today.

“We came to Alabama to win,” said Julio Jones. “But we stayed family because of coaches like them.”
