BREAKING: Stafford Acknowledged being called by McVay Before the mock draft.
In the 2021 draft, I put BYU quarterback Zach Wilson in a rare tier of prospects at the position, and it was only the presence of Trevor Lawrence that kept Wilson from going first overall. I was not alone; months before the draft, the consensus was that the Jaguars would draft Lawrence and the Jets would draft Wilson, leaving little room for debate. This was also in a relatively strong quarterback class of prospects (note: I said “strong class of prospects“), with three of the next 13 picks also being quarterbacks.
Wilson appeared to be on a straight path to greatness, according to me and many others, but this was simply a huge mistake on my part. He can not blame injuries, and he can only partially blame the New York Jets, but Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos as a salary dump on Monday because he is simply a bad player.
There is little hope for a comeback, whether with or without Sean Payton.
