Breaking News: Chicago Bulls Have Sign a Talented Power Forward From…..
The Chicago Bulls have made an intriguing offseason addition by signing power forward EJ Liddell, an Illinois native. Liddell, who played college basketball at Ohio State, was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans with the 41st pick in the 2022 NBA Draft but saw his early career derailed due to an ACL injury that sidelined him for his entire rookie season. When he eventually returned to the court in 2023, Liddell had only a limited role with the Pelicans, appearing in just eight games and averaging 2.9 minutes per contest. However, he shone in the G League, where he played for the Birmingham Squadron. In 26 games, Liddell averaged 17.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.8 blocks while shooting an impressive 50.9% from the field.
Despite the injury setback and a lack of NBA playing time, Liddell’s potential remains evident, and the Bulls see his signing as a low-risk, high-reward move. With his physical style of play, strong rebounding ability, and shot-blocking potential, Liddell has the tools to make an impact, especially considering Chicago’s recent roster turnover. However, it’s expected that Liddell will spend most of his time in the G League, at least initially, as he works to establish himself in the Bulls’ system. If he can consistently demonstrate his abilities, the team may give him a larger role later in the season.
Chicago is heading into the 2024-25 NBA season with significant changes to their roster. After missing the playoffs for two consecutive years, the Bulls committed to reshaping their team over the summer. Notably, the team lost DeMar DeRozan in a sign-and-trade deal with the Sacramento Kings, Andre Drummond left for the Philadelphia 76ers, and defensive stalwart Alex Caruso was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Josh Giddey. However, the Bulls will welcome back point guard Lonzo Ball, who is expected to return to the court after being sidelined since 2022 due to injury.
Although mainstays like Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic remain, the Bulls are clearly heading in a new direction. With these changes, the 2024-25 season may mark the beginning of a new era for Chicago basketball as the team aims to build on its lone playoff appearance since 2017.
