After losing 10 points, a financial expert says Everton will be demoted, deeming the decision “unlikely.”

Dan Plumley predicts a reduction in the points deduction as the club’s “line of attack” in their appeal, calling it “unlikely” that Everton’s 10-point deduction will be entirely overturned.

On November 17, the Toffees were immediately docked 10 points for violating the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.

Following the points deduction, the Merseyside team fell from 14th to 19th place in the league table.

“I feel like it’s unlikely it would get completely overturned given everything else that’s going on in the mix, and the fact that independent regulation is looming in the game at the top—the Premier League are trying to move first on that and regulate and say that they can sanction and start to show their teeth a little bit,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

In light of this, I believe that, in the best-case scenario, the club would be hoping for a reduction in the points sanction upon appeal. And I believe Everton will pursue that strategy in the appeal.

“We are aware that there have been issues here for the past two years, and we believe that the breach should have been handled sooner.

If you consider the 10-point deduction that the team has received over the last two seasons, I believe that the team will likely be demoted.

“Given the other teams in the mix, they should have a reasonable chance of surviving this season. I believe there is another fascinating subplot in all of this that we might not be focusing on enough.

“In my opinion, they will remain in the game even if they are docked 10 points, but maybe not the two years before this one.”In other Everton news, Peter Reid revealed what made him “mad” about the Toffees’ 10-point deduction
